Cuti-cuti di langkawi 13-16/08/05
|
|
Our flight to Langkawi on 13/8 was delayed for four hours due to haze in Langkawi. We were supposed to board 4.10 flight but delayed until around 8 pm. It was so bored but mama didn't want to cancel the flight. So, we waited and waited and finally boareded the plane and reached Langkawi airport at around 9 pm and waited again because there's no taxi. Finally reached the hotel and dozed off after having roti canai and nasi lemak for dinner.
The first plan was actually to go to Oceanworld but the entrance fee was so expensive. Since Kimi wolud not remember this trip to appreciate the fishes and the sea creatures, we cancelled the plan and headed to Kota Mahsuri. Spent some time there and then went shopping at Idaman Suri to buy Opah's Melamineware and also the Visions's pot.
After shopping, went back to hotel to rest and at 7pm, we headed to Lang Square for photo shoot and had our dinner at one of the shopping mall (don't remember the name but it claimed the biggest mall in langkawi).

My little devil
|
|
These are the photos taken in July during Kimi's first trip to Sogo
(If I'm not mistaken). We brought the stroller along to push him
around but he insisted on pushing the stroller himself. So, we no
longer use the stroller because he want to push it around instead of
sitting on it.
Kimi will throw his tantrum even in shopping complex if he's cranky.
He will just lie down if he got angry. It happened many times already,
at Sogo, at Kuching airport etc.
Kimi, the litttle devil or papa call him syaitan keci l.........

Google Earth Image - Malaysia and Sydney
|

|
Malaysia

Randwick

|
|
** Notice that the location of Subang Jaya and Dungun on the image that's wrongly placed. I don't know if there is another Dungun in Selangor. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm sure Subang Jaya is not in the exact location.**
I spent one and half years of my life in Sydney, specifically in the
suburb of Randwick. I stayed in Malaysia Hall with Abang in 2002 till
July 2003 while studying for our Master degree in UNSW. To go to uni
from Malaysia Hall usually will take us around 30 minutes of breeze
walking. But if you do power walk, it might take only 15 minutes.
You can also see the Randwick race course. The area of the racecourse
is bigger than UNSW. Kat sinilah tpt Tom Cruise berlakon MI 2 masa
scene kat racecourse tu. UNSW even use the racecourse to conduct the
exams (dalam hall bukannya atas padang tu) .
Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks
enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places
in photographic detail. This is not like any map you have ever seen.
This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images
combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment,
businesses and more. You can zoom from space to street level
instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even
country to country.
Get Google Earth. Put the world in perspective.

Day 6 in Paris
|
|
Last day of sightseeing in Paris - 4/6/2005
Places visited
- Museum Louvre - this is where the real painting of monalisa is placed
- Notre dame Cathedral - another church
- Seine River Cruise
- Lafayette shopping mall
After dinner we went to the Eifffel Tower again to catch the glimpse of the tower at night. Very beautiful and there's also light display every hour for ten minutes. Even at night, the queue was very long. No wonder millions of visitors visited this tower every year. We went to the tower by bus, train and metro from our hotel. I had an opportunity to use public transport in Paris. It's very efficient and there's no way you can lose your way unless you cannot read the sign and don't know how to use the map.

Day 5 in Paris
|
|
Our first day in Paris was started with visiting the famous Eiffel Tower. The entrance fee for adults is 7 euro for the second floor. There are three different floors that can be visited. The third floor will cost more and if you're adventurous enough, you can climb the stairs which will only cost around 3 euro.
We reached there around 9am and the line was not that long. I was informed that during summer you may need to queue for two hours before you can buy the ticket. We spend around 2 hours at the tower. Then, we headed to the Arc of triumph for taking photos. Since we're rushing to go to the factory outlet, we just stopped for few minutes. The Champ Elysees street lies from the Arc of triumph to the place de la concorde. We just passed by the street and headed straight to the factory outlet. Abang and I didn't buy anything at the factory outlet, too expensive. We spend the four hours browsing through the shopping mall and I finally found and bought a pepper grinder for my sister in law. Because of the traffic jam, we arrived our hotel at 8pm eventhough we left the factory outlet at 6pm. That's worse than in KL.

Day 4 - France's trip
|
|
We were supposed to go to Toulouse on 2/6 but unfortunately there were a union stike that affected our train to Touluse. The train will stop halfway and we might need to take a bus from Montpellier to Toulouse. Since our meeting was scheduled at 3pm and there's also a possibility that there will be no bus at Montpellier and we need to make our own way, we decided to go straight to Paris.
The journey from Lyon to Paris took about 6 hours by van. We arrived at the hotel around 7pm because of the traffic jam in Paris. Our hotel is in Rueil Malmaison which took about half an hour from the city centre. After eating kebab for few days, we finally found an indian restaurant just next to the hotel.

Day 3 in Lyon - 1/6/2005
|
|
In the morning, we went to INSERM Lyon, a research institute under the France government that deals with medical and health. Met another great guy, Jacques Jossinet with his fantastic team that showed their current reserach there. We finished at 11 am and then went sightseeing in the city centre. Ate kebab again and later in the afternoon, another appointment at the Faculty of Medicine, University of ????.
Coming back from that visit, we went to see the Notre Dame Cathedral on top of the Fouviere Hill. It seems that there is also another notredame in Lyon besides the famous one in Paris. Raymond (our guide) told us that notre dame means my lady. He also told us a little bit about The Hunchback of Notre Dame the famous story by Victor Hugo.
